Seraphim

$200.00

Wings symbolize inspiration. They transport beyond the mundane. They are a metaphor of creativity and chaos.

Greek mythology tells us of Icarus, who flies to reach the sun. His wings were attached with wax. The heat from the sun melts the wax and he falls back to earth. He flies into the chaos of his own making.

We have long aspired to having wings. Find winged goddesses (angels) in the frescoes of ancient, pre-Christian, Pompeii.

These were inspired from reliefs on the buildings in Paris.

Signed and embossed with the studio chop.

Copyright 1986

State IV, edition of 15

Decaled and torn edges, approximately 13” x 20"

Sky blue paper handmade from the Columbe mill in England.

This image also available for purchase as a suite with multiple prints. Please visit original shop page to view.
